Fast and Furious

Fast and Furious is one of two fulva hybrids to be introduced by us. With the intent to create hardy, tough plants with more modern faces, we went to the species fulva, specifically the varieties Yunnan, Switzerland, Hankow, and Korean. These varieties will cross with tetraploids, giving tet offspring. Its parentage is H. fulva 'Yunnan' x Unknown. We don't know the pollen parent because it was hybridized the year of the 'Great Tag Malfunction'. We found out the hard way that Sharpie markers won't work in the garden.

Fast and Furious has 50 inch scapes with 3 way branching and an average of 24 buds. The 5.5 inch bloom is bright brick red with a burnt orange band, yellow midribs, lighter sepals and a triangular yellow throat. It is a midseason, dormant tetraploid.
